Thank you for the input. I still have 5 of the jerdoni. They are Great hiders and I didn't see them too often. Recently moved them to a new setup and found that 5 were left. They have eaten blood worms and, although they are seldom seen eating, they are still alive and seem healthy. I also feed crushed dry pellets, crushed earth worm pellets and fine flake. No breeding yet. They have one dwarf pencil fish and a few wild Neos with them.
The second pix is Oak,probably black or red; hard to tell without more info, but either is a good source of tannins and food. These are the kind I use. Dont know what the first pix is. BBF
Snails are able to repair their own shells if they are not too seriously injured. I would suggest putting them away from the bladder snails and any other possible "diners"and keeping your Ph on the high side(7+) and possible addition of ground cuttle bone or other forms of calcium.I never tried deliberate medication of snails, but this may help a natural process along. Got 6 of these cute little rascals about 2 weeks ago. They are so engaging that I am giving up all other fish and shrimp. Anyone have info to share? I have basic care, but would like to find out about personal experience with them, success, problems, happily ever after etc.Thank you for helping. BBF
I found 2 Assasin snails in a 29g I was cleaning the other day after at least 6 months of not seeing any. I would like to find out what their needs are so that they will thrive and multiply. My 29 was survivable, but not good for prospering, unlike the ramshorn and pond snails that I had tried to control with the assassins. One of the assassins had a severely degraded shell; it was amazing that it was alive.
Any info on how to keep these facinating little guys going.
