If you're only getting ph7 with a kh of zero definitely get a new/better soil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yes 6 is fine , it's more about what soil you have that will dictate what you final ph will be. Don't try and change it from where you're soil goes with your ro water. No need to chase a number Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If you have zero kh you need to have a buffering soil that will act as a buffer. You will be a little below 7 in most cases. Kh and ph are sorta joined , ph is always there but kh acts as a stabilizer , so no kh and your ph is easily pulled up or down depending what's in the water. If you don't use a soil or another buffer your ph will drift up and down and that's extremely stressful and will cause bacterial infection by stress and death Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Red oak has pointed lobes and white oak has round. I use both in my tanks as an alternative to buy ial. I like to DIY as much as I can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Never frozen them but I've raised them and then rinsed and put in my shrimp tanks. They should die in the freshwater and then the shrimp would eat them was my thinking. I just use bloodworms now as it's easier. But would like to culture something again soon. Have a few ideas to try I'll let you know if they work out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I save the old water till the next day. All the crap settles and then I take a flashlight and look at the walls of the bucket. I have collected tons of babies back to the tank, most in one bucket was 29 babies haha
