  1. Hello i'm currently on vacation at the sea. I have 2 tanks currently devoted to snowball shrimp and blue dreams. I would like to start setting up my 100L tank (freshwater) for another kind of shrimps, so i found these pretty cool looking rocks next to the sea water. I know i still have to clean them and test with vinegar (which vinegar? Apple or alcohol?) but could anyone possibly tell me if any of these are good or not good to use just by looking at them...
  2. Already filled the tank as i had some shrimps that had to be put somewhere (I have cycled filter media) Idk this stain seems like a real bitch to clean, i tried to clean it with HCL and it s still there... Im just gonna get rid of this tank when i get a new one, cuz this one is quite ugly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi, I've tried cleaning this glass 2 times already, both times i used white vinegar (sprayed it all over the glass then wiped off 15 mins later) and rinsed. When i try to scrape it off with my nail it doesnt feel like anything is on the glass(from inside and outside the aquarium), Is it maybe inside the glass itself? I really have no idea what im doing wrong here ?
  4. Hi, so i bought 20 snowballs around three months ago, 10 of em died from the 5 day shipping as it was really cold outside, anyways, I think that the shrimps that are still alive are all female as they havent bred yet. There are around 6 huge females with the saddle, 2 medium sized ones with a saddle, and 2 that i cant tell if theyre female or male, if they were male they would of mated by now no? I dont really wanna lose this colony because in my country you can only buy red cherry shrimp, and other species you need to order them from germany and that tends to be expensive af, shipping itself costs more than the 20 snowballs i ordered. Im not feeding the shrimps because any food i put in the tank they dont eat much, they like the biofilm on moss more, i change water every 2 weeks for 30%, temp is 21 degree celsius ( i tried all temperatures...for 3 weeks i had 28 degrees, then i tried 25, water hardness is 140ppm, KH is 6, PH is 7.4 they molt regularly...dont know what could be the issue other than not having any males. What if i get a few RCS, so they breed with the snowballs, yes i know they will have wild coloration offspring, what if i then breed the wild coloured ones with snowballs, would that get me atleast a few snowballs or would they keep making wild coloured ones?
  5. Want to do some aquascaping, remembered there are some pretty looking rocks in my backyard but im not sure if they would alter the water chemistry as I have 0 experience at identifying rocks of any kind. The rocks came from the sea side back when we went on a vacation four years ago, since then they have been in the backyard in the gravel with the plants. 4 years of raining, snowing, should be enough time to get rid of any salt from the sea, or stuff like that.. right?
  6. Yeah the white strip, thought it might be a fungal infection of some kind, as i dont have a good enough camera to really zoom in and focus on it. Thanks for the reply Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Just noticed this female shrimp has a white body and also some weird line on her exoskeleton, is this a disease aswell or she is unable to molt?
  8. Hello, im having trouble getting my snowballs to breed, im sure theres atleast a male, and alot of saddled females that molt even more then usual. I heard that feeding high protein foods might get them to breed so i decided to try it out. How do i freeze brine shrimp and then feed them to my snowballs? Has anyone done it?
  9. Do they maybe have a cloudy body? When mine were dying they had a cloudy body, also my shrimps tend to molt way more then usual, (like once a week, so far 30 exos on the gravel while i only have 13 shrimps) in the past three weeks, no idea why. Are your shrimps new to the tank, and did you order them or bought in a lfs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ah thanks... i'll drip acclimate the shrimp and put it in a 30L tank that has 5 neon tetras and see what happens, my guess is that it cant affect fish right? There are no shrimps in the fish tank so nothing to worry about Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Removed the shrimp into a 2l quarantine tank (its pretty dirty, and for some reason cant get good pics of any aquarium animals with my phone.. so sorry for the blurry pics) What should I do now? The shrimp was doing fine in the tank tho, eating and acting normal as far as i know, you guys sure he's a goner? I only have 13 shrimps in the tank
  12. Just noticed this snowball shrimp has a cloudy body but only in the part where is the tail. I remembered somewhere that I've read cloudy body parts indicate a disease, so is this a disease? If so, what do I do? You can see it on the picture too Thanks for any help
  13. Another one.. seems to be alot bigger, and its shaped like a circle, are these water fleas? ? IMG_8239.MOV
  14. Just noticed it as it was swimming around the gravel and then started feeding off the shrimps exoskeleton, these are snowball shrimps which I ordered recently and they have been in the tank for a week now, when I got them I didnt notice any signs of disease(no spots on them, but I guess it would be pretty hard to notice a white parasite on a snowball) There were 12 molts in the past 3 days (theres a total of 13-14 shrimps) Can this be a baby shrimp or what the heck is this ? -this little critter can be seen while swimming towards the exoskeleton during the first 4 seconds of the video IMG_8236.MOV
  15. No idea... but my snowballs do it aswell, i just turn the light on 7 hours so its enough for my moss to grow, rest of the time light is off and they seem less stressed that way
