  1. I don't think that there is one premade for it, however it wouldn't be too tough or expensive to get a piece of glass/acrylic cut to fit.
  2. Here is a pic of the tank out of the box and set up, just to give a better idea of what you are getting.
  3. I was thinking that since I will already be taking a big loss on this, and I don't really need to recoup costs at all.. If you buy this I will donate 100% of the funds after shipping to UNICEF. I will provide you with proof that it was donated too
  4. Eugene, OR - but I am willing to ship it, included in the price above.
  5. Decided to remove this sale listing. Sorry about that!
  6. This is going back up for sale - thought a local person was coming by, but they flaked so it's still available!
  7. Full 8L bag of Dennerle scaper's soil. I was going to use this for a planted tank, bought two bags and cut the corner of this in preparation for pouring it in the tank. We didn't end up using any of it so I taped the corner back up. No soil at all was used. This is good stuff for growing plants, and it buffers my 7.8 pH tap water down to around 6.2-6.4 (hard to see a clear difference for me on the pH test). It's very dense, doesn't blow around with higher flow, and has a pretty short period where it releases ammonia. $30 shipped priority flat rate.
  8. If you really want to conserve all the waste water, home depot sells rain barrels with a hosebib already installed. You could permanently plumb your waste water into that and then you'd be set for all your watering needs.
  9. The ultum nature tanks, like I said were not really what I am looking for.. The aquamax version is pretty close though. Thanks for that!
  10. Since the ADA Mini M is no longer avialable it seems, does anyone know where one my obtain a tank with the same dimensions(or at least super close to 35 x 22 x 26 cm?). I was looking at the Ultum nature tanks, but they are kind of weird dims. I really like the taller profile of the M, and I know up-aqua used to make a clone.. but I can't find them anywhere.
  11. Bring your current aerator with you, along with the sink adapter. I am sure the plumbing section person can sort you out.
  12. I save it in buckets and water the garden, and the wife's flower beds with it. I do the same thing with water change water. When I was dosing EI in my planted tanks, my wifes roses and flower beds were insane!
  13. FYI just in case anyone wants to get down to a slightly higher resolution on GH/KH tests.. You can double the volume of water(10ml), and then each drop is equivalent to 0.5 dKH. This will give you a little more accurate representation of where you GH probably sits.
  14. Agreed, with the above.. It's really not worth the trouble when you can get a cheap RO system that will get you by for a long time. http://www.purewaterclub.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=95&products_id=246 I had a similar system to that which worked for me for a loooong time. You just have to think ahead to make sure you have your water for water change day.
  15. It depends greatly on the RO system, and the source water. Here in Eugene, OR, our water comes out of the tap between 40-60 TDS, I can get a year or so before I generally just switch them out(10" Cartridges) to avoid any possibility of chlorine getting past the carbon block cartridge and into the membrane. A friend of mine has a 5 stage RO/DI system that he runs in the houston area with about 220 TDS, and he's made it over a year without swapping cartidges(however he's playing a dangerous game). If your water utility adds chloramine to the water, then you are looking at even shorter replacement cycles on your carbon - maybe every 3 months since it's really hard to remove and even trace amounts making it through to your tank would be really bad. The cartridge costs can vary widely, but generally for a decent set, you are looking at ~30 bucks (Sediment, Carbon, DI resin). Less if you don't have DI.
  16. It's Taken! Thanks folks!
  17. I was cleaning out the aquarium stuff!
  18. New shrimper grab-bag!! Most of this stuff has been used but there is plenty left, except for food and the GH+ which is new API test kits: Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, GH, KH Shirakura food + some samples Tantora Amaranth leaves Mini Oxydator (no Hydrogen peroxide included) Salty Shrimp Bee Shrimp GH+ Danner air pump & airline Corner sponge filter Petri dishes $25 shipped! Taken!!
  19. Almost all aquatic plants(with a very rare exception to those that can use CAM photosynthesis) switch from uptake of CO2, to uptake of O2 when the lights go out. Basically, the plants will be competing with everything else in the tank for any dissolved oxygen that is present. The shrimp might be ok with this, but they also might be getting stressed at night when CO2 levels rise and O2 levels fall.
  20. An oxydator is a device that converts hydrogen peroxide via a catalytic reaction into concentrated oxygen. It's used primarily to increase oxygen in the water column. This probably would do a better job of explaining it than I would: http://www.aquariumoxygenator.com/
  21. SL-Aqua has been taken. Stratum still fair game.
  22. Hey folks, I have been experimenting with substrates recently, an I have two half used bags and I thought maybe someone might like trying them out. I have ~4L unused, of both SL-Aqua(Fine), and the new formulation of Fluval Stratum(the one with added nutrients and is supposedly more active). Both Substrates have been taken! Thanks everyone! I was able to cover the bottom of a 10g with 4 liters pretty easily, so this should be a good tester for someone. They fit perfectly each in a medium flat-rate box, so call them $15 shipped for each bag. First come, first served - one per person -Paul
  23. Since I have been getting back into shrimp keeping lately, I am wondering what everyone here(particularly the more experienced breeders) feel are absolutely essential products to their setups. I am sure that there are other newbies out there who would benefit from this info as well, so I figured I'd just ask the community. From food and supplements to that one piece of equipment you really couldn't live without. I am curious to see what everyone thinks. Perhaps the best format for this would be a top 5 things list? Example(not my list, just for format's sake) Mosura BT-9 Snowflake food Indian Almond Leaves Oxydator 3D Shrimp net If there is anything wacky, please let us know why it makes your life easier Also, if you need to make two lists, perhaps separate for neos, caridinas, sulawesi, etc.. go for it!
