I have a planted tank, getting ready for shrimp. I will get the wild brown shrimp(5 adults 5 juvies), and 5 amanos. I have a 20 gallon tank, DIY C02, foam filter.

  1. I have a problem in that when I have pushed root tabs down deep into the substrate, some of the little pieces of the fertilizer escape. I am planning on getting shrimp as soon as my tank has finished cycling and the water parameters are proper. Will these little pieces of fertilizer hurt the shrimp? I have tried picking them up, pushing them back down and nothing really works. They look bad too. What should I do? The shrimp I am getting are wild brown shrimp and amano. Has this happened to any of you and how can I stop it from happening? I was thinking of going to Job root sticks or whtever you call them eventually.
  2. NotKelly is right on this. I am trying to get my parameters correct now (cycling tank).
