After a long 2 yrs of not having shrimps in my life I am now back! I cannot live without my little friends. Im not getting a whole lot this time, just 2 tanks for tigers (my favourite shrimps) as I find they are much easier/hardier to raise. I used one of the big sponges for Aquaclear (biggest one) $10 and cut it in half and used that to pop over the end of the tubing...it has bigger holes and you can cut it to fit any way you want.

Its been a few months since my Snow white female gave birth to several red headed spotted pinto mischlings (all are doing well and growing good) Now this week I found my Mosura Crown female berried and today I noticed my big Red Spotted head Pinto female is also berried and still males are swimming around, so someone else is going to get hit this weekend. I have several BKK males and the rest are Black and Red spotted head Pinto Mischlings, so babies should be nice.

How can you tell if there is a saddle with spotted headed shrimps? I can't even begin to figure out where the saddle part is located with these. I have several females but none ever show any signs of saddles and no breeding going on.....what's up?

If anyone has done it would be Michal Nadal! If it was available....I would be the 1st on the list to buy some! LOVE blue shrimps.

I am away from home right now, so don't know what is going on in the tank. Before I left I only saw 2 of the pinto babies that were always out and about...I think the others may not have survived. Hoping the lights being off while Im away will have allowed some breeding to go on, if not then that's OK too.

I am thinking of setting up my 20 gallon long with akadama soll and wondered what the opinions are on using this for a shrimp tank. I know Guru Amano used akadama a lot in his tanks, but maybe that was just for plants??? Love to hear any about anyone using it and how you did it.

Cool....so far I only see 2 of them on a regular basis now. I think maybe the other 4 have died, but then again they could be hiding anywhere in the tank. I only see the 2 more adventurous ones every other day, so I think they are still wary of the adults. Going to set up a 20 gallon long with Akadama soil in a couple of weeks and transfer some of the bigger adults into that...so far no more breeding, yet parameters are all good. PH 6.5, no ammonia, no nitrites, no nitrates, KH is barely 1, GH is 3-4...don't know what the problem is???
