  1. Anyone have any ideas what Might be causing my shrimp decline?
  2. Hey Gang, I have been keeping CRS shrimp for 5 years. The current tank has been running for awhile. Everything is very stable water wise. I use some kind of volcanic substrate. I don’t recall the brand. Plants and floaters. It’s a small eheim 6g I have run the eheim filter and I have run a sponge from time to time. Lately it’s been sponge 1+ year. I top with RO/DI Gh 5 Kh 0 Ph under 6 Tds 108 Temp 74 Zero nitrates I rarely see breeding and when I started in shrimp my first year it happened all the time. I lose shrimp over time. If I start with a dozen in a year I will have 3-4. It’s never on intro it’s slow over time. I thought lack of breeding was due to no males so I introduced some shrimp. I had a breeding and have all king Kong’s and blue bolts at this time. While they have grown I know I am losing shrimp here and there. I am wondering if my issue is either Ph related or not enough TDS. I have always kept it low around 100 or so. I brought it up to 150 recently. Thoughts?
  3. I have been using regular strength peroxide 3% for at least two years. The catalyst lasts a long time and it produces bubbles. I keep TB and while I can't say its helped it hasn't hurt either.

  5. Correct. Think the idea is it leaches humic acid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. This is no Bueno. I just setup a 20L with contro and moved all my TB in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Echo what has been said; Love Cull Tank Mine throw lots of King Kong & Panda from day one. Suppose its who you get them from as well.
  8. More agitation is purported to cause more gas exchange with atmosphere. Those bubbles getting dragged down oxygenate the water. Too much with floating plants will make the plants not happy. That's been my experience at least. With Shrimp you don't want so much cascading that your causing a vortex as you said. Frankly a spray bar or sponge will provide plenty of oxygenation. 12. So I have always maintained that TB are not as delicate as people claim. I setup a 20 Long in the following fashion- Day One: Filled with ice cold RO water from the well over the course of a few days Day Two: Added floating plants and one stainless mesh with moss Mulm bomb, added new sponge filter (never used one before) Added HOB that has been running on main tank Day Four: Few days goes by realize there is no heater. Throw that in and crank temp for a good cycle. Day Five: Light arrives good thing because the floaters look like crap....Oh maybe its because of lack of nutrients as well. Realize I didn't add minerals to water. Dump Salty Shrimp in three scoops...I still have yet to test the readings. Add 2.5ML of pure ammonia to achieve 3ppm. Still have yet to test cycle. Day Six: (today) Controsoil arrives - haphazardly dump half bag in and rake around with hand. Never took mesh with moss out so had to go fishing for it and a cholla log that got buried. When the dust settled I noticed a little TB swimming around...couldn't believe it based on what it had been through
