  1. Hi, i have a 20g long tank and have a swisstropicals HMF filter on it. i haven't set up the tank yet(checking to see if its good, bought it used) and i will have to also get an air pump for the filter. I was planning on getting this one : but noticed the air pump is kinda weak. I dont know the requirements for an HMF filter but is this strong enough? it will be for my future shrimp and possibly some celestial pearl danios or chili rasboras but i'm worried that the air wont even be strong enough to lift the water up the tube. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Ok, I have started the test to see how well and how long the azoo battery powered air pump does and will go. link to the product I got http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3693 Cost $4.99 + tax & shipping used: bucket, double sponge filter, 2 D batteries Product comes with - unit, air tube, air stone (I didn't use the air stone) - does NOT come with batteries Test started at 10am on Sunday 4-5-15. I will post updates
  3. 2 of my 10 gallon tanks are in my, rather small, bedroom. The first tank wasn't too bad, sound wise, but when I added the 2nd I had to sleep with ear plugs for a few nights until I could adjust to the sound. I don't mind the water sound, it was the sound of the pumps. They are the whisper quiet but in a small space it was a bit much. I found these http://www.ebay.com/itm/290960337065?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and decided to give it a shot. I bought 2 and got them last night. WOW - nearly completely silent! I do think it's a bit weaker than the pump I had, but I had a 20 pump on it and these are made for a 10 gallon so that make sense. I'll attach pics later but I decided to use both on the louder tank right now until I play with the outflow. I slept a lot better last night, even with two of them on the tank all I could hear was the water. The whole 'pump' is smaller than the palm of my hand and it actually just suction cups on to the outside of the tank.
  4. This will be updated as I install my Alita-60 Air system in my fish room. I was very frustrated searching for information on this topic online while I was researching the information on plans to install this. I am going to document my install and where I got all the equipment needed to install this central air system. These systems are great for people with multiple tanks, you no longer have to spend alot of money on many separate air pumps and the noise of several running at once. Not to mention the cost of running several different ones. The initial cost is higher but the benefits will quickly outweigh the cost in the long run.
