  1. Hi everyone! I have gotten royally confused with all the different varieties of blue neos that are available. I understand that they are from different lines of breeding, but I am looking for a more cohesive source to have a picture to the name of the shrimp. I started here and found some pictures of the blue neos that were available but it seems incomplete: Planet Inverts Breeding Guide So what I decided to do is to post the ones that I do know and hope that you can help me fill in the blanks! 1) Blue rili shrimp 2) Blue cobalt shrimp 3) Blueberry shrimp 4) Blue pearl shrimp Other names that I have heard: Blue velvet, Blue dream, Blue diamond, Blue jelly, Blue carbon. Are some of these names synonymous? Please help fill in any missing names and maybe a picture so that I can make a cohesive guide! Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi All, I have 10 juvenile Blue Dreams for sale. These will not be culls-just the first 10 I can net. $50 for the lot, local pick up in Los Angeles only please. I'll also throw in a nice 6-inch piece of Malaysian driftwood. Below are two photos of the colony, taken with chili rasbora for color/size reference. (Actually, they kept photobombing me because they are divas.)
  3. Hi, I'm new at shrimp keeping and new to the forum (hello!) and bought what were described as blue tiger shrimp from local dealer. They are dark bluish-black, 2 of the females have a brown stripe down their back as you can see in the photo, the other female (right in the photo) doesn't, she is dark all over (and berried) the the moment. Spotted a few fry in my tank so they're obviously happy enough. Can anyone fill me in on what I've actually got please ? Much appreciated! Colin.

  11. (3) Dwarf Blue Cambarellus Diminutus. In my experience, these look best in a lower PH aquarium with soft water. I highly recommend an active substrate that buffers PH for plants and bee shrimp. Coloration may appear more Gray in higher PH or hard water aquariums. This is one of the Smallest Crayfish species known - 1.25" when full grown. These ship as 1/4"-1/2" Juveniles. Plant friendly - breeds easily. Can be kept in groups as long as there is plenty of extra hiding spots, live plants and mosses are recommended. Driftwood will provide hiding spots and may help in lowering PH values. Home bred in the USA 3/$25 with Free USPS Priority, Tracking number and DOA Guarantee. Buy 6 or more and get 1 free.

  14. Trying to decide what Blue Neos I would like to get. I don't have all the time or tank space dedicated to separate culls, so I'd would prefer to get blues that need the least amount of culling, yet still look attractive (not too big of a fan of really light blue Neos that almost look clear white) I was considering Blue Diamonds. I've heard they were produced from chocolates. Can Blue Diamond x Blue Diamond throw out chocolates? I've seen/heard blue diamonds throw out light shades, even darker/black-ish, and some that even look like chocolates, but still have blue on them. Would all those types still be considered as Blue Diamonds and sold as such even though the coloration varies? Or do the varying shades/colors get categorized as different variants (Blue Dreams, Chocolates, etc) Not sure how accurate this graph is. Seems like Blue Dreams and Blue Velvets are at the "end" of strain variation, so they would breed most true? Though I am sure they throw out varying shades. Are lighter shade of Blue Diamond considered Blue Dreams? If not, what traits separate the two? Or are Blue Dreams just lighter blue versions of Blue Diamonds, but have been stabilized as a lighter blue producing strain? What ever happened to the Sea Sky (C-Sky) Blue Neos? I don't see many people selling them. I thought they were said to be a much higher grade strain of Blue Velvets or Blue Dreams that bred 70-90% true.

  16. As the title says I am looking to delve into taiwan bee breeding as the next step in my shrimp keeping. I don't care if they are low grade, but I don't want to have to sell an organ to afford them
  17. I figured instead of starting random topics on the board about new shrimp I get/breed I would make use of this lovely journal area and update here instead! I have a 10 gallon tank that is currently full of Rilis. My favorite girl is a lovely Blue Rili. Her tank mates are mostly red,a few that are almost clear, a few with a blue tinge to the clear areas and yesterday I went back to my rili supplier to see what he had and grabbed a blue male, and a couple of almost clear males. The male isn't nearly as blue as my girl but has a darker patch on his tail. The "clear" boys are interesting because when I picked them out in their aquarium they were very clear looking, but since putting them in my tank yesterday all sorts of red dots have popped out on them! I've had dramatic color changes happen before when bringing new shrimp home.. it's always a surprise when you pick one thing out in the store and give it a couple weeks at home and it looks completely different! Im curious to see if my blue male will get bluer now at home. I've been watching my suppliers tank and have noticed a very interesting transition in his stock as it breeds. When I first started buying from him, they were all very vibrant reds. Then I noticed a few blues and "clear" looking ones pop up, and now his stock is almost half or more "clear" with a few blues and about 1/4 with a lot of red. Obviously the trend in the genetics it towards less and less red. Will be interesting to see if that happens with my stock too over time. Im hoping now that i have a blue male and female that I will be getting more blues! Here are some pics:
  18. So Santa came early, surprise Blue Dreams! Now I've got a bit of shrimp musical chairs going since they can't live with the pumpkins, or the ones coming. Oh boy! I'll post pics soon.
  19. For those of you who are keeping Taiwan Bees and having success in breeding them I thought it would be a good idea if you could share your parameters here with others to help them become successful in breeding TB’s as well. Mind you this is just as reference since there are many things in the shrimp tank that affect parameters such as soils, plants, ferts, co2, etc…. My tank is heavily planted and I use Amazonia as substrate. I do not use ferts or co2 in this tank. I use 1:1 ratio of tap and RO water rematerialized with Mosura mineral plus. My TB breed all throughout the year. (Knock on wood) However, I find my mischling in the tank become berried more often (faster) than the TB. Here is a comparison of my parameter changes. Although there is a bit of fluctuations in my paramters the shrimp are still breeding. April 2014 Today TDS- 145 TDS- 155 GH- 5 GH- 6 KH- 0 KH- 0 NO3- 0 NO3- 0 PH-5.8-6.0 PH- 6.0 Temp- 72 Temp- 72
