So thought I'd do a journal so you can see the progress as we start a tank just for our shrimp we want to prepare for Novembers contest. The tank is approx 10 gallons, the perfect size for a selection tank. Here is the first week of setup. First steps: May1st SL-Aqua Nature Soil powder. Next, add 1 spoonful of SL-Aqua Magic Powder Then I added 1 spoonful of SL-Aqua Milione Adding just enough RODI water to cover the soil, then adding SL-Aqua Purify. I used approximate 200ml.

Anyone know if I can scape my tank with driftwood and plants before starting the SL-Aqua Cycling Method with Magic Powder + Purify? My driftwood has java moss attached to it but has difficulty standing on it's own so I need to put it under the substrate so that it'll hold. The problem is I'll be using SL-Aquasoil so if I try to force the driftwood under the substrate after the cycle, it'll crush the substrate. I was planning on putting the driftwood in the tank before the substrate so when I pour the substrate in, it'll help it stand. Anyone know if this would be okay with the SL-Aqua Cycle method and if the Java moss will be okay during the cycling process?

I like to feed my shrimp this product in the middle of the week, a few days before I do water changes. This way, when I do water changes and my shrimp begin to molt, I feel more comfortable that my shrimp have been fed the necessary nutrients to molt into thick shells. Many stores and breeders in H.K. use Snowflake food in their tanks. These “snowflakes” are actually soy husks that have been pressed into pellet forms. When added into the tank, they expand and scatter into the tank like snowflakes. It takes roughly a week or two before the snowflakes fully disappear from the tank. Until then, each snowflake acts as a constant food source for shrimp. Snowflakes are a goldmine for micro-organisms and shrimp take advantage of it. I gave a bag to my friend who kept Taiwan bees that refused to take pellet food. After trying out the snowflake, his bees swarmed the flakes. For the first time, in the year he’s kept his shrimp, they were eating something given to them. While it is near impossible to pollute a tank with this product, my recommended usage for this product is 1 cm of snowflake pellet per 10-20G tank with an established shrimp colony. For new tanks that have just started (assuming you start with 8-12 shrimp), use 2-5mm only. The reason I feed sparingly is because overdoing the snowflake can make a tank look messy. So it’s more of an OCD thing for me. But when it comes to shrimp food, always judge on how much you feed accordingly to population. Start small and escalate as you see fit.
