  1. You'll get 4 juvenile Sulawesi Yellow Rabbit Snails. They are healthy juveniles (around 1/4 in), and home breed in Oregon. Will ship with heat pack. Shipping cost is not refundable.100% live arrival guaranteed for first delivery attempt, if there is DOA, let us know and we'll make it right.
  2. Hiya Y'all! Dose any one have any info on Bio-Floc with ornamental shrimp? Quantities of Bio-Floc to use in nano tanks of less than 5 gallons? Has any one experienced deaths using Bio-Floc?
  3. Hello, Sorry for my english which may be rough sometimes! I bought Sulawesi 8.5 for my aquarium and tried to dissolve it by heating but the result was disappointing. I get a conductivity of 120-150 while the result should be 220. And I can see the rest at the bottom of the tank ... A second method is to use CO2 but I do not know exactly how. What material should I use? I was thinking of using effervescent C02 pellets to put directly in the canisters of osomosed water, but I do not know if I can use the commercial one. Do you have a simple and effective method to find the theoretical 220 conductivity of Sulawesi 8.5? Thank you in advance ! Arnaud
  4. Hello everyone, After long time being only a marine reefkeeper, I switched back to freshwater aquariums. I setted up a tank without knowing really what to do with it and now I got mesmerized by this Sulawesi biotope I was not aware. Anyway... What I have An already started tank (approx 2-3 months) of approx 10G (raw). It measures 32x32x45h cm. I use 100% RO water with salts. Hardscape is made by some simple ADA dragon stones. Tech: external filer Hydor Prime 10 (with bioball and a bag of Purigen), 1x Chihiros A301 Plus (30W dimmed 8000K led light) + 1x Chihiros RGB301 (25W dimmed RGB led light), CO2 system (I'm aware I will have to remove this..) Soil is ADA Amazon (I know it does not fit the Sulawesi style, but as I said before I was not planning a Sulawesi at the beginning). The substrate height ranges from 3cm to 12cm (I like DSB). Several plants: mainly Pogostemon erectus, Hygrophyla polisperma, Spike moss, Christmass moss... What I would like to do Adjust the current setup in order to make it compatible with the Sulawesi animals, keeping as much as possibile of the plants alive (I don't like acquariums without plants) Get a starter of Caridina dennerli and a couple of Tylomelania sp. (I am not a huge fan of snails.. But i read that they are the best team mate for the shrimps) I red some literature about Sulawesi and I was planning to: Remove the CO2. Plants growth will slow down, but it's not a problem as long they survive Without CO2 I will have to reduce the light, dimming both lamps to their minimum or even keeping just one of them Adding a power head in order to keep water oxygenated (remind the tank is 45cm height) Adding a bag of crushed corals or sepia bone in the filter All this in order to reach chem water of about pH 7.5, kH and gH 6-7, and temp around 26 (winter) to 32 (summer) °C My doubts: What do you think? What other actions could Which salts and supplements should I use? How many specimen should I get? Should I get a dosing pump for trace elements or could I just add them in RO water before water changes? Is there anything else I'm missing? Quite old picture of the just setted up tank, this should show the hardscape Thanks!
  5. Hello! Bought this at a LFS labeled Sulawesi Cardinal which it does not appear to be and if was I would not think would have survived the CRS tank they had it in. They had the real Cardinals in the past and the guy said these were a lower grade lol...well anyway Any ideas?
  6. I have a couple of Caridina sulawesi var. bandit (Sulawesi crown shrimp “Bandit”) packages for sale (exclusively for Shrimp Spot members). The offer is for 15 unsexed subadults or adults + a few shrimplets (as bonus) from my main breeding colony (no culls) as seen in the pictures and youtube video below for US$160, including USPS Priority Shipping, in the continental USA. I have been selectively breeding this line for about four years and offer it for the first time for sale. My goals were to increase the black and white coverage and I also selected for the banded (bandit) phenotype. As for neos, the females show more intense colors. Caridina sulawesi are very prolific and hardy shrimps. I have kept them at pH ranging from 6.2 – 8.5. The shrimps that I have for sale were kept at pH 6.8, KH = 2-3 and GH = 5-6. The colors and patterns are more intense at acidic pH. I don’t recommend a KH below 1. It is unlikely that they will interbreed with any common aquarium shrimp species. DOA is covered (excluding shipping costs) when the shipment is accepted upon the first delivery attempt, a clear picture of the dead shrimps inside the originally closed bag is sent and the claim is emailed no later than 2 hours after delivery. I can ship on September, 12., or September, 13. 2016. 15. Hello all! Will from theShrimptank has awakened me from my "freshwater forum slumber" with his import of Sulawesi shrimps. I used to be active on several shrimp forums, but have recently become enamored with saltwater aquariums and coral propagation, and that has taken up my forum time. I still have 16 freshwater shrimp tanks, however! My main focus is on Tiger shrimp and Sulawesi. I have been breeding Cardinals for about 2 years now, and currently have 4 tanks devoted to Cardinal breeding. I'm going to try my hand with Yellow Cheeks and just ordered some from Will. Below are some pictures of a 9 gallon cube that I have had set up with Cardinals for about 2 years. I don't actually recommend such a small tank however, because of the issue of rapid evaporation. I have to top it off every day. Sulawesi shrimp also require a lot of aeration, which exacerbates the evaportation problem. My other Sulawesi shrimp tanks are 20 gallon highs. The tank that I put the Yellow Cheeks in will have auttopoff (from the Reef aquarium world), which will help fight evaporation.
  16. Okay, so I've been hesitating to post this, but here goes. Has anyone successfully kept and bred any of the Sulawesi shrimp besides Cardinals? The only info I've found is from 2010 and earlier and they are all documented failures. Has anyone had success?
  17. I am looking for US-bred shrimps from the Sulawesi Malili Lake system, including Cardinal shrimps (Caridina dennerli), Yellow cheek shrimps, Red orchids and others. No imports, please. My Sulawesi tank is well cycled now. I use Salty shrimp Sulawesi Mineral 8.5. I want to get 20 to 30 individuals of a given species. Please send me a PM if you have any available.
  18. Do you have any amazing stories about your shrimps? I want to share two miracles involving my Sulawesi crown shrimps (Caridina sulawesi). 1. Some time ago, I put about 10 shrimps in a small container, not more than 200 ml, which I wanted to put in my cull tank in my office. I forgot about the container because it was hidden behind an aquarium. When I discovered it again a week later. About 90% of the water evaporated! I was first shocked and thought the shrimps suffered a terrible death. But I was totally amazed when I saw that all shrimps were alive. I did not measure the TDS but it must have been salt water like. I slowly added more water and the shrimps looked all good and survived. 2. Shortly before the X-mass holiday break, I added about 10 shrimps to two 10 gallon tanks each. When I cam back from my holiday after 4 weeks, I saw no berried shrimps or shrimplets, I decided to switch one tank from tap water to RO water supplemented with Bee Shrimp Mineral +. I moved all adult shrimps to the other 10 gallon tank and I did two radical water changes, within two weeks and got all water out of the tank (I left the plants in the tank) and quickly put the new water in. I did not pay a lot of attention to this tank and did not put any food into it. To my surprise I saw some movement later and upon close inspection I found more than 15 shrimplets in there (see picture). Now the first ones of the clutch are berried and I found a few tiny shrimplets. I am most amazed that the shrimps survived the radical water changes. Tough little fellas!
  19. Does anyone have aquatic plants from Sulawesi? I am staring a new Sulawesi lake tank and would love to have also plants from there. If so, can you post information and pictures?
  20. I finally got my tank setup and ready for shrimp looking for cardinals, blue foot poso, etc.
  21. Came across this picture of a New? Sulawesi shrimp posted to a facebook forum. The owner is referring to them as 3 spot red but they actually look very translucent. Does any one recognize them as a different name or are these new to the hobby?
  22. Someone produced a yellow Cardinal morph. This pic is floating around facebook. Apparently there is also a blue morph. Not sure who the breeders are.
  23. I'm keeping cardinal / yellow cheek Sulawesi shrimps in the same 20 gl tank. Since they are both doing well, I decide to separate the 2 species. My only problem is I cant catch any of them. As soon my net enters the tank they all running into their hiding spots............. Food lure doesn't work because they only eat algae on the rocks; they show no interested in any other food. I wonder if anyone have a trick to catch those guys. Thank you
  24. I have seen these mentioned on a handful of strange sites, but never found anyone with access to them. Has anyone else come across or tried these? Malili water plant. Chara sp. (Towuti red flower) Chara SP Fragilis. (Red cherry water plant) Mini red cherry water plant. I have heard it mentioned these are more akin to mosses and algaes, then vascular plants. Here are a few internet pics
  25. In researching Sulawesi set ups, I came across several posts that mentioned the addition of neos to a Sulawesi tank to encourage the shy shrimp to come out of hiding and also to get them to eat commercial food. One commented that the cardinals avoided the shrimp food until the neos were added as they readily ate the prepared food. Anyone try this? The posts never mentioned if they were at 7 or 8 ph. Will neos be okay in salty 8.5?
