Oli98
When I am looking at websites that are selling Taiwan bee shrimp some say the water perimeters are 5.5-6.2 ph for them to live well. But I can't find any articles saying how to get these sort of levels of ph when the ph of RO water I have is around 6.8 and active substrates only offer phs of down to 6.0 so how are people getting lowwer ph I can't really find anything that is a good method... I heard ph buffer solutions are a bad idea and even using peat is bad for bee shrimp so I can't figure out the best way of lowering ph to such acidic levels I think my ideal value would be 6.3ph
EricM
this photo has been floating around for a few years. BUT with that said 6.0 is perfectly acceptable level for Taiwain bee's. Its more about PH stability than super low numbers. cosmicuzi
coryjames
Yes 6 is fine , it's more about what soil you have that will dictate what you final ph will be. Don't try and change it from where you're soil goes with your ro water. No need to chase a number Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oli98
But what if the substrate settles water ph to 7.0 just start again with different substrate?
EricM
most every buffering substrate should get you into mid/low 6's if you use 100% RO from the start.
coryjames
If you're only getting ph7 with a kh of zero definitely get a new/better soil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oli98
