Hi everyone!

I started a CRS tank 2 months ago and last week I got my first batch of CRS shrimplets with more berried females!

I started with 14 adult CRS S-SSS with a few that are PRL

Tank Details:

Mr. Aqua 12g Long

Fluval Shrimp Substrate

Salty Shrimp GH+

Zoomed Nano 10 Canister Filter

Nano corner sponge filter

Finnex Stingray Light

Here's some pics!

It's fun when they all start showing up, I had 4 females all release their young over a month long period like clockwork on a weekly basis.  I didn't realize how many there were until I cleaned the filter's intake sponge, and scraped a lot of old algae/biofilm out of the filter and satellite tank's fill tube. Which then filled the tank with a brownish snowstorm of shrimp yummies.   It was nom-nom central for over 3 hours, youl'd think I wasn't feeding them enough.

Yeah it is! I was looking for one of the berried females when i saw tiny little guys stuck to the glass and that feeling is just the best! haha

SECOND batch popped out today, I spent a good half hour looking for one of my berried females which looked like she was going to give birth real soon yesterday(pic below taken yesterday). Couldn't find her all day but noticed a lot of much smaller paler looking babies than the first batch which are super active and all over the tank now.

Baby shrimp are so dang cute. Those are some nice looking shrimp btw. Who did you get them from?

Hey Undershrimp, I got them at a LFS here in Los Angeles..Bobs tropical fish. Yes they are super cute! I feel like soon i'm going to have to start selling them off once i'm overstocked ;\ and the culling begins...hahaha

Ahh yes. I await and will relish with great joy the moment you speak of. When I go from "I hope you have babies, I hope you have babies" to (with a Patrick Stewart voice of course) "you are good shrimp, but you're just not going to make the grade. Out of my main tank and into the cull tank with you!" Heck I might even get some video that day. [emoji38]

Nice set up.

Am i the only one who thinks/knows that that amount of substrate wil cause bad effects on a long period of time.

Thanks Nuri! Yes I've read a few places that you shouldn't use too much substrate, however some members on other planted tank forums seem to have success with regular water changes and deep substrate tanks..hoping I can do the same! :)

3 week update!

So far my babies are a good mix of SSS, SSS Mosura, SS no entry, SS hinomaru, and some V-bands (i think)

Also, who thinks I should cull out the V bands and SS, or should I just let them be? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few pics of the little guys!

4 Week Update

Shrimplet survival rate is oustanding! Officially have 3rd batch of PRL CRS babies. Super good mix of patterns, with each batch of offspring I can notice a good mix of various S-SSS patterns. I found one from the newest batch of babies that I'm super excited to see what it looks like once it's larger.

This little guy on the right. I haven't really seen a crs like this one, think it'll look super cool once bigger.

thanks for sharing your pictures.  Love the markings. Everyone has their own opinions on what is pretty. I guess you will have to decide what your "goal" is. I have seen some amazing pictures on this site and others. Truly inspiring.  Best of luck with your growing colony.  How many more tanks will you be setting up ????? hee hee

A bunch of babies came out today during a water change, probably because I was turning the substrate over throwing a bunch of munchies in the water.

I counted over 100 babies the other day :o IMG_1620.JPG.ca3ee0b5179b968e077f1348a51fa9cb.JPGIMG_1621.JPG.88230e47740155c89601259b9846dd9d.JPGIMG_1622.JPG.c474f8e86d19858fe2df1e0b948ff5e2.JPG
