Buffering substrates

  1. 1. Which buffering substrate do you use? How long have you used it? Has the buffering capabilities diminished?

Currently using fluval stratum in a 10 gal tank.

looking to start a new tank soon. Wondering if I should try a different buffering substrate?

i would like to keep the substrate color black. Also want to shy away from Amazonia Bc of the ammonia leech.

new tank will most likely be 10gal or so.

Why? Lol. You have first hand experience with it? How long does the buffering capability last? FYI I'm using RODI water.

Yeah I actually do , every single one of my tanks. Not really I've been using the same tank for 3 years using tap water and my CRS and blue bolts are still breeding

You forgot the best selling soil available. SL-Aqua. We've sold over 1000 bags to date.

$40 shipped priority mail for 8L, nobody can match that value.

when used with RODI... how long will the substrate last for buffering capabilities?

Also, do you guys carry smaller bags? I"m only filling up a 10gal tank. No need for 8L. Maybe a 4L bag? $20 shipped? :-)

Thanks!

Unfortunately I have no used for 8L of substrate. Only need about 3-4max for a 10 gal tank that will be lightly planted. Any other substrates out there?

You can always save the rest for future tanks or when you need to change out substrate.
