Cate
I have a problem in that when I have pushed root tabs down deep into the substrate, some of the little pieces of the fertilizer escape. I am planning on getting shrimp as soon as my tank has finished cycling and the water parameters are proper. Will these little pieces of fertilizer hurt the shrimp? I have tried picking them up, pushing them back down and nothing really works. They look bad too. What should I do? The shrimp I am getting are wild brown shrimp and amano. Has this happened to any of you and how can I stop it from happening? I was thinking of going to Job root sticks or whtever you call them eventually. Hi Cate, I would suggest looking up the ingredients of the root tabs if still possible to check if there are any traces of heavy metals (lead) and copper contents. If that isnt possible then your next best option would be to get yourself a copper test kit to test the water. You could also use Cuprisorb from Seachem as a fail safe. Hope this helps!!
