Scissors in shrimp tank

please help guys my little brother dropped some scissors in my shrimp tank ,the scissors have rust i did a 50% water change but some of the shrimp arent moving they are just in one place, i already had one die right now , i have purigen and put seachem prime to try and remove the copper or heavy metals in the water .the scissors weren't in the tank for long at all maybe like 5 seconds because i noticed right away

 

my dwarf crayfish and snails are doing fine though

I dont think 5 seconds is going to hurt anything.  That 50% water change might be a bit much for the shrimps though.

but after the scissors were in there i had shrimp die of , now they are fine though and acting normal

I think it is a coincidence.  Many on here leave tableware in their tanks (to easily remove raw veggies) and some have reported that they have rusted.

 

How long has your tank been set up?

Yeah if anything the rust isn't that soluble in water anyways as it's already oxidized and pretty inert.  Now if there was possibly some soap or hairspray residue, it remotely, *might* cause a small problem.  I'd be more concerned about shocking your shrimp with a big water change that also changes the water chemistry. Some people use iron based plant fertiiizers with their shrimp so I don't see an inert amount of iron oxide causing a problem
