  1. Not true. Nitrogen converting bacteria reside all over the substrate, sponges, moss, rocks, etc. ADA recommends frequent water changes during the cycling process. Sometimes a water change can actually kick start the cycle again, if ammonia levels are too high.

  2. Yeah ideally you would want to do that, and maybe add almond leaves and moss to your water storage area for a few days or weeks to lower the pH to your liking prior to the water change, but I don't have the space for that so I have to deal with the cards I got.

  3. Came back from business trip after being gone for a couple days. I'm guessing my toddler unplugged the air pump. He loves to look at the tanks. Came back to pea soup. Shadow pandas, red wines and CRS. Just had my first berried bee shrimp! Guess I'll stop and pick up a locking door knob tomorrow. You win some, you lose some.
