    Shrimps videos

Forum members have been asking me for shrimps videos.Plan was to make them early this year but busy schedule and some photo gear problem delayed the project. Now after finding the right video camera and enough free time I'm ready to post couple of videos. Will start with video showing 4 year project of High Grade Blue Bolts and Panda Mosura. I'll try to add new video at least once a week.Probably to be easy to find them I'll post them all in this first post. For better quality and fast buffering you can watch them in YouTube. Please fill free to add your videos and comments

    Color comparison

Okay, this won't be happening until next year, but which neo would look the best in a white sand tank with OEBTs? Yellow neos or green neos? =^._.^=
  7. I got some blue tiger shrimp about 2 months ago and they have been doing well up until yesterday. All the water parameters have not changed since I purchased the shrimp. I found one dead yesterday and one dead today. Here are my tank parameters: PH: 6.9 KH: 2 GH: 4-5 TDS: 140 Water temp: 68F Ammo: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 5 I did add 2 nerite snails last week would that cause any problems? Are a few deaths here and there common? What should I do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

    I have babies!!!

Yes, my berried OEBT culls have had babies! Wee wee little things, near transparent. I managed to count three of the little guys, will probably have to wait a month or so to get a good count, due to the fact it is near impossible to see them against my black substrate, easier to see the water fleas. The adults have blued up quite nicely in the past two months since arrival; the two males who were blue when they arrived are a nice medium blue now, and the blondish female has turned blue as well. The one light blue has darkened too, but seems to have a reddish sheen across her back. Interesting. Now I am waiting to see how fast the two females berry up again. I am really happy with them, their color and that they seem to be much easier (not as touchy) to keep than I have heard. Or maybe it is beginners luck with this type of shrimp. Time will tell. =^._.^=
  9. Hi, First post here but I've been into shrimp for a while. I manage a LFS and have quite a few personal tanks as well. I decided to experiment with tangerine tiger crosses and think I might have had some luck. After several generations of crossing I have managed to produce orange shrimp with white lines of which ~25% have the orange eyes of OEBTs. This project is still very early on but I was very excited to see the orange eyes pop up with this newest batch of babies. Here are a couple pictures of my personal fish room and pictures of a couple of the parents and offspring.
  10. I had two nano tanks that were about 3.5 gallons each. I kept mostly royal blue orange eye tigers in one and mostly painted cherry shrimp in the other. The parameters in each were ideal for the type of shrimp I was keeping in each tank. One morning I noticed that the cherry shrimp tank's filter stopped working. Since the tank was one of those with the self contained-filters I had to scrap the entire tank and get a new one. While waiting for the new tank to cycle my only option was to house the cherry shrimp in the same tank where I am keeping the Tigers. I thought this would be ok since I've read that cherry shrimp do well in a wide range of parameters when properly acclimated. However shortly after the transfer my neocaridina (neon yellow, painted cherry shrimp, black diamond) slowly began dying off while my OEBT and CRS were doing fine? From everything I've read caridina shrimp are generally more sensitive yet in my situation they are doing fine while my cherry shrimp are slowly dying off. What could be killing them? My parameters are: ph: 6.8 ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 5.0 ppm KH: 2 GH: 6 I have UP Shrimp Sand under a layer of sand and the tank is nicely planted. I don't use C02. Though i do add about 3 drops of liquid fertilizer once a week. I feed them once a day with food ranging from blanched zucchini, shrimp pellets, BorneoWild, and occasionally add blood worms mostly to benefit the micro crabs.

    OEBT Bacterial infection?

I noticed one my tiger shrimp being bullied by other shrimp. On closer inspection i saw she had legs and antennae missing. My heart sank, the dreaded oebt bacterial infection. I quarantined the affected shrimp in a net breeder and started a melafix treatment. All the other shrimp look fine so far. (fingers crossed) What else can i do? Will the infected shrimp survive? Will the entire colony survive?

  22. Good morning shrimpfolk. So i have read and a read as much as i can trying to determine different outcomes with crossing oebt with tb's...and i am at a loss for what kind of end goal i have. I'd like to see what comes from just crossing them with tbs but i think i should narrow down my tb to keep up with the who's who in the breeding. What do you guys think i should use? Right now i have them mixed with a bunch of mischlings, but i want to move them to my new setup and maybe keep the mischlings where they are. Am i locking myself into heading straight for pintos by mixing with the tbs? all the selective breeding gets confusing after a while. Suggestions would be awesome. i need your advice! pictures would be cool too. I guess my question is should i mix them in with a particular color...ie goldens or blue bolts and see what happens? if so what would we like to see... anyone have more success with mixing a certain type vs another?
