JamesHe
ControSoil for bee shrimp. I love it, way better than ADA AS. Pool sand for neos. RyeGuy411
Shrimpscales
Choose controsoil unless you want to spend the first two to three months doing huge water changes to try and flush the ammonia from ada. RyeGuy411

Crazyfishlady
throwing my question in - I see controsoil comes in 3 sizes.. any preference or pics with the different sizes? DETAquarium
I used ADA Aquasoil exclusively for sometime in all of my shrimp tanks. I recently made the switch to testing Controsoil. Though I am still in the cycling phases, some perks I see is the clarity of the water, and the reduction/elimination of ammonia leaching. I think my favorite size is the "Fine", as I originally received a bag of each size to test. RyeGuy411 and Crazyfishlady
RyeGuy411
Im loving the Controsoil and I also prefer the fine size in black. My Controsoil tank is so clear it looks incredible and I'm not running Purigen in it yet. Crazyfishlady

RyeGuy411
Your best option for the Controsoil will be Amazon at $45 for 10L shipped you cant beat it. You will have to place two orders unfortunately.

Keiris
I am so new to this and some of the supplements are so expensive. I was thinking enlive & minerex. If I use RO water will I need to add minerals?
RyeGuy411
Where are you located? And what type of shrimp are you planning on keeping? You might be overthinking this, for neos you dont need much, Taiwan Bee, Crystal, Pinto are more needy.

RyeGuy411
So an active substrate, RO water and a remineralizer, food thats pretty much the basics. Keiris

JamesHe
what kind of reminiralizer would you suggest Salty Shrimp Bee Shrimp Mineral GH+ http://www.theshrimptank.com/brands/SaltyShrimp.html
RyeGuy411
Salty Shrimp works well and is cheap for how much water it makes, the only drawback is the dosing is a little picky. It would be much easier if you had a digital scale to weigh the powder for accurate dosing. A liquid remineralizer is very easy to dose like MK Breed Blue Diamond or SL Aqua Blue Wizard.
