So I've been trying to source vitamins and I found a reptile multi vitamin. I was wondering if you could use this to combine in fish food DIY to give them the vitamins minerals and amino acids they need

That's an interesting idea. Curious to know the answer as well.

I've been trying to get into DIY food as well and one thing I was thinking about using was Icelandic Ocean Kelp. Supposed to have a large supply of vitamins and minerals. Possibly something to look into? (The specific kelp I know of is the "Life Line Icelandic Ocean Kelp".) I haven't even began to make or test food yet, but might be something to look into.

I'm staying away from all starches plants and sugars. If I can help it thwre won't be any in this food. No carbs either. Unless its absolutely necessary for binding it it won't be in thwre.

I'm having trouble sourcing probiotuca and algae bred for aquaculture meaning bred in labs for higher fat content. And protein

Anytime. I trust Marc in his video over les Wilson. Just because he is basically the god father of discus, and a well known and respected man in aquaria. Les Wilson used to work for marineland. And branched off to make cobalt aquatics which I just recently got there food. Pretty good although I disagree with some stuff he told me. Oh well we all have opinions.

Anyways watch those videos and come back to this thread.

If you don't mind sharing your sources I would love to know them. Also just finished watching both videos and the information was wonderful. I just got hit with a informational bomb haha.

I definitely have a different view on making the food along with the process! Need to find some probiotics as well.

What do you think about using http://www.amazon.com/NATURVET-978047-Enzymes-Probiotics-8-Ounce/dp/B001F2GDJ4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1404464396&sr=8-2&keywords=naturvet as a probiotic source? I can get it easily at my work (same as the lifeline) which is why I was asking about that earlier.

Also, I SO didn't realize this was in the fish section of the forums hahaha. I am sure the information still holds valid in shrimp keeping, but what do you think about what Marc was saying if it was directed towards shrimp? (Sorry for the off-topicness)

To be honest I didn't notice it being directed towards shrimp or him mentioning it I'll have to watch it again lol.

For probiotics I was actually thinking of using beta glucan, and yeast for aquaculture that is inactive.

Here is a good red on the use and scientific research on probiotics as well as specific strains.
