If you need specific shots, let me know. I might be able to find something in my photo library.
I have an aquaponics setup that uses a standard 40AH car battery with an inverter. It powers my EcoPlus CA3 35W air pump for about 3 days. I leave the battery on a Battery Tender Junior to keep it maintained and have a relay circuit to switch it when AC power goes out.
They definitely jump when my glass lid is bumped and slams shut. I don't think it will be a problem by just installing some windows. I would be more concerned about construction dust or paint fumes finding their way into the tank.

It is really just a venturi that you can DIY very easily. Search youtube for "DIY Venturi"
It is possible that the osmocote, being a time release formula, has slowly accumulated some mineral to lethal levels. Osmocote plus is 0.05% copper.
I never had any breeding at all in my high tech planted tank with osmocote and EI dosing.
This kind of issue is always hard to diagnose.
Tank temp? Is it stable?
Feeding regime? Have you tried bumping up the protein? Did you feed baby powders when there was babies?
Number of shrimp? I find that when there is less than about a dozen shrimp in the tank, it take forever for things to happen. Not sure why.
I've made a lot of changes since the original posting.
I added a LED driver/fade controller same as shown here on another tank of mine.

I ordered an Atlas Scientific pH probe and I may have a lead on a 2nd hand Atlas Scientific TDS probe.
I got rid of the CC3000 WIFI board. After extended use, I've come to realize that it is garbage and there is some major bugs that TI is not willing to fix. I am converting the code to use a standard W5100 wired ethernet board and using Powerline ethernet adapters to get the signal back to my router.
I had to upgrade the brains to an Arduino Mega 2560.
I will post more details when I've ironed out all the bugs.
It is a reflex reaction. The rapid dark mimics a shadow of a predator from above. I don't think it's overly stressful... same as the reflex jumps when things get too crowded in the feeding ball.
