Beginning Nano Projects

Howsit everyone! Aloha from da 808!

Im gonna be documenting all the New and Current Projects That I have going on here. Nothing will be hidden, basically this won’t be all Sunshine and Rainbows. It’ll include the good, the bad, and the devastating. All we can do is learn from our experiences!

Just getting Neos and Cardinals here is A challenge of its self! I don’t have any Good connects in the local shrimp community, and two guys I got referred to by one guy at the local pet shop. Charges an arm,ah leg, one eye, and ah liver for em! I thought they where both joking when they told me the prices of low grade Neos they had.

Once I was done thinking about buying some locally, and hit both guys up to grab some.. I was to late on pulling the trigger, cause they both where sold out of the couple types they had for sAle lol!

So I’m currently waiting for some Dwarf Sulawesi Cardinals from A vendor that would finally send me some lol. I’ll get some more pictures in the morning of some other tanks/stuff.

Here’s A Ghost Shrimp Tank that’s now thriving and overgrown, I use these to feed other fish for now.

So does anyone know the reason the shrimp climb out of the water and ontop the spout for the recirculated water?

This is constant, and when the lights turn off the  spout is almost 100% covered with shrimp. They aren’t trying to get out of the tank, but just stay on top that. I thought they where feeding, but there’s areas covered with algae just like this inside the tank near the filters and sponges lol

So here is the next tank that I’m cycling at the moment. I’m still trying different ground covers out right now, I’m waiting to see if this Monte Carlo roots and grows well in this substrate.

I’ve got some RamHorns and Malaysia Cone Snails to help speed up this tank, I’ve really been trying to get my hands on some new shrimp recently. But haven’t had much luck, hopefully this last vendor I talked to will take the chance to sell some to me!

It happens, I've found shrimp on the floor 20 feet from the tank where they walked all night.

Got some good news, the Dwarf Sulawesi Cardinals have ALL survived!

Check out these Snail Eggs I found while cleaning one of my Outdoor Guppie Breeding Tubs. I forgot to clean this tank up after I moved all the baby guppies from the last breeding project.

So this next tank is for my Sulawesi Cardinals, the sponge Filter, wood, and feeding dish are all from A well established tank to help speed up algae growth.

The PH isn’t quite where I want it, as of right now it fluctuates between 7.4-7.6. I’d be happy if it was at A stable 7.8-8.0ph in all honesty.

Here’s A Guppie Breeding tank, it started off with just one Male Cobra and One Regular Female Fan Tail Guppy. I’m very happy with the out come in the F1s.0A4D43C9-38CA-46CE-ADB1-7FE210194E67.jpeg.5fe177c0e00efc9fc5a390b81ed8f041.jpeg6BA9ED56-9CA9-4542-B000-D371431CE45F.jpeg.8e54c467853156706607aa9bd28b3724.jpeg

So I’ve noticed that the Sulawesi Cardinals like to stay hidden in their caves/crevices for most of the day, or atleast until I turn the lights off lol.

So I read that these do ALOT better when there’s more of them, more so then Neos. Probably gonna pull the trigger and get another 6-10 of them, it’s just A tough decision because they are so much more expensive then Neos or Crystals. Every listing I’ve seen has them for about 100$ for 5-6$ of them.

My brother actually started this tank in preparation for some Neos, but do to unforeseen circumstances he ended up just putting some plain Ghost Shrimp in it after cycling it for months lol. F12248AA-D672-4CA3-AB5C-3E05F833C976.jpeg.58f459ef2a7cbe7898bc6b7b0f684f7f.jpeg

Can anyone tell me what’s going on here? They where all attracted to this one area, they’d go straight back to this spot even after every time I scared them away from

Actually used slightly filtered(For Debri) Ocean Water, only about 15% of the total amount of water used for the tank mixed with local tap water that sat aerated for A night.. Our tap water here is good with A constant ph, I gotta look for the List of values the Board Of Water sent new.

I have another tank for the Sulawesi that’s cycling, but I’ve been needing to get the 8.5mix. Everyone seems to like it a lot more then the 7.4/7.5 one.. I think this Tank wasn’t cycled even near enough, the only thing with some nice algae/Boi is the damn feeding dash and the cholla pieces haha.

Here’s some Orange for yah! Some Tangerines that aren’t doing so well, and some Sakura in the White Tub.

I was doing A water change, well dumping out some water back into the tank so I could restart the drip process. When I see little bright translucent specs zipping through the water lol, I almost dumped A whole bunch of baby fry out without even knowing! F8241218-C303-4AE2-85EA-0DD15CF89E61.jpeg.a12a436a4b5bc1cf4689d0cf81442997.jpeg5D41C9EA-B1C8-4755-9F03-299776C3494A.jpeg.69dd983ba35e2db49bb072f220798629.jpeg

So me and my bro cleaned up some of our tanks, and now I have A problem because of him lol.. He had these snail looking creatures that are all over the sides of his tank. Even after quarantining the hornwort plants I took from him, only for about 2 weeks in it’s own container. I still ended up with these snail look alikes all over my tank. 21E1457A-B75D-4846-8AFA-C07391848CAE.jpeg.b7b5c534160969ab0dd72391e65234cc.jpeg27C6DD2D-1C4D-4619-AD78-A98897526A96.jpeg.8c4b7a453115b14712232a42bb38bfcc.jpeg

Also, do you guys like it when the shrimps have A strong colored back strap/middle strap? It’s nice if it’s A close color to the shrimp, but when it’s kinda a whole different color it kinda makes me iffy on them. 86E91135-926C-49B3-8D9B-07651F285505.jpeg.c2af2b678596cfb65d20c28a3a17b582.jpeg
