TheGardenofEder Posted February 19, 2015 Report Share Posted February 19, 2015 I used crushed oyster shells in my tanks but I just sprinkle a little over the top of my substrate. Shrimpy Daddy Posted February 19, 2015 Report Share Posted February 19, 2015 Crush coral will continue to dissolve as long as there are acidic component in your tank. It will stop dissolving when no more acidic component left in the water column or your pH is alkaline. Given said that, the potassium and sodium component at the surface will continuously leech out in regardless of pH. If you are putting crush coral in a tank that has acidic buffering capability substrate, your water column will overloaded with sodium and potassium after a long period of time.
