Soothing Shrimp
Sulawesi are notorious for being difficult to feed. What is the opinion of putting some cherries with the Sulawesi to help them "get the idea" of what to eat and not be so shy about eating? ctaylor3737
I've heard it, can help wjth them. For me they mostly munch on the bio film. I found using powder food helps. If you want them to pile on food you have to feed them in the evening. They don't really come hang out until it's dark. Funny thing is too they turn white in the dark. -Chris
Puddles
I doubt it would hurt. Besides it would give you another neo tank to play with! Sent from my IPad using magic rwong2k
ctaylor3737
I was going to at one time but didn't know if the cherries, would survive. -Chris
TheShrimporium
I have one Blue Velvet in my Cardinal tank and he is still going strong. Doesn't seem as active as a tank full of neos but he molts and eats like he should. I believe he has been in there about 6 months or more. BTW, I'm using SS 7.5, not sure about SS 8.5 ctaylor3737
ctaylor3737
Yea use 8.5 so was always worried it would be to high for them. Oh my just chatted with a guy who has a tank full of yellow cheeks and white orchids. My search for yellow cheeks maybe over lol. -Chris
TheShrimporium
After seeing the youtube video you posted on soothing's thread in the marketplace, I have considered keeping my remaining cardinals and rescaping their tank. But I will adjust to SS 8.5 just because I have never tried it.
Soothing Shrimp
The biggest thing I hear about 8.5 is the challenge to dissolve it. ctaylor3737
OblongShrimp
I put some of the Salty Shrimp Sulawesi 8.5 in boiling water and stirred it around and then added it to a 55gal barrel and had a pump running on it for several days. It was still cloudy. I did a 100% water change on a tank to switch the water over and it was clouding right afterwards but it was clear by the next day. Soothing Shrimp
Yeah. I'm thinking of heating a 5g bucket, adding 8.5 and letting it sit for a week.
TheShrimporium
7.5 is also cloudy. Has anyone just added the SS to tap water? My tap is already hard with a high PH and adding the SS would still be beneficial as using it with RO water right? Well, maybe depending on the exact parameters the tap would buffer back down to my 7.8 tap water, maybe?? What do you guys think.
Soothing Shrimp
I think with tap the tds may be too high... (?)
