Louie
Has anyone kept Spixi snails and what has been your experience with them as far as being shrimp safe and keeping them with moss? Thanks
Soothing Shrimp
I had them, but don't have them now. Very easy to keep, but illegal to cross state lines. I didn't see them bother my shrimp. Louie
OblongShrimp
I used to have them as well and liked them a lot. They eat hydra which is always useful and didn't both my shrimp. Their shells will dissolve in soft water so they are better kept with Neos. Louie
Thank you both great site but had no idea illegal to sell/buy over state lines. Oblong, why did you stop carrying them?
ctaylor3737
I have seen a few people talk about these to get rid of pest snails.
OblongShrimp
Yes they also eat pond snails and I think ramhorns as well. I don't recall why I don't have them anymore. I think their shells just got destroyed in my softwater tanks but don't know what happened to the ones in my hardwater tanks. I also moved and may have lost them during the move. Any experience with the spara traps? Maybe I spelled it wrong. Supposed to help trap the snails. I suddenly have some in one tank, been good about not having them. Guess it happens though. -Chris

Soothing Shrimp
The levers lift up from outside going in, but since they are at a 45deg angle, they don't lift from inside going out.
