Mikeyp85
Just hot some red root floaters locally. There actually very nice looking but the roots are massive! Can you trim the roots across with these type of floating plants?
wicca32
im sure you can. just dont trim to short. i would leave a couple inches long. i used to trim all my floaters. with no ill effect. it kinda makes them grow more

wicca32
most floaters are great at keeping nitrates away. they suck them up really fast so its good to have them
Subtletanks91
Yeah I do know that. I just don't like the fact that they take over my tank. And the roots get so long. Too mucb work to trim and pull them. Moss is a good nitrate sucker upper to.
Mikeyp85
Yea that's the reason I got them.. to take care of the nitrates and excess nutrients.. I rescaped about a month ago.. Pulled up all my plants and all of a sudden I'm fighting all kinds of algae. I mean everything.. Green spot.. Green dust..hair algae..black beard.. I'm in the process of finding a balance.. It can be annoying so I'm pulling out all the stops.
