I have 10 hours lights...but lately noticed some brown algae on them...anyone knows why is that? they tend to be green and growing well......now they look more brown and seem like growth has stopped.....

Soil probably won't help grows slower when attached. I usually just have it as a floater with lots of flow and it grows awesome. Moss I tend to ignore and it will grow. Then you trim tons of it and you'll sill have a lot left.

Poopians,

The fastest way moss grows is either attached to driftwood or some decoration that it can attach itself to (I tie it on with twine) It will grow on the bottom of the tank but I find it grows faster and algae free when attached to something .

Perhaps on bottom of tank it gets waste caught in it and more prone to algae .
