Wygglz
Can anyone tell me the difference between a Red Tiger and a Fancy Red Tiger? I know my red tigers don't have the thicker red stripes that I see in the picture of Fancy Red Tigers. But I'm wondering if that is the only phenotypic difference and what the genotypic difference is, in other words, is the Fancy a cross or just selectively bred, or is it just a natural variation like those seen in tangerine tigers and OEBTs? jumpsmasher
Fancy tigers are the new name for tibee & taitibee... Basically any crossing between Tiger shrimps and bee shrimps. Red Tiger are 100% red Tiger genes
monty703
I have some fancy red tigers which are a cross between an OEBT x WR then crossed back to one another to enhance the wider stripes.
Wygglz
Ahhhh... Thank you Jumpsmasher & Monty! They looked like a tibee to me, but the site I was looking at had them listed under Tigers so I was confused.
Twister54
Do fancy tigers breed true, or will the offspring be a mix of tigers, fancy tigers and TB?
jumpsmasher
depends on the actual shrimps and how many generation... but if they are recent crossings you will be a mix of offsprings.. some tibee, some pintos / taiwan bee and some tiger / bee shrimps too if they are part of the mix
DETAquarium
Fancy Tigers do not breed true.
JamesHe
Well, if there is white color on the body, it's fancy tiger.
