Shrimple minded Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 I used both matrix and the eheim cocoa puffs, seemed like most gave fairly good reviews on them and no one noted significant issues using them in planted tanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Jadenlea Posted October 10, 2015 Author Report Posted October 10, 2015 Ive had it for days now and havnt set it up. I am SO stressed about getting it to prime. Quote
Shrimple minded Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 I'm hoping you've already confronted your fears.....priming is not a big deal imo. Look up some YouTube vids for help, you can use gravity to fill it with tank water or just fill it with change water and then connect it and go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
NWroostin Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 I followed this guy's technique, worked great. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NwLYzXZYkl8 Quote
Vpier Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Ive had it for days now and havnt set it up. I am SO stressed about getting it to prime. Just be a man, "suck" it up. Thats what I do. Quote
Vpier Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Im a girl!!!!! That applies for girls. Its not bad. Fill the canister with fresh RO water and suck until you get a little water and you will be good to go. Quote
Shrimple minded Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 BTW rinse that media and the canister if you haven't done so already......there can be some dust/particulate on the media I think you don't want to blow into your tank. Jadenlea 1 Quote
shrimpaholich Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 im using the media that came with it (with minor adjustments) and it works great. ibe had it running for about 4 months no problems. and priming is EASY Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
DETAquarium Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 I always use the Bio Media that comes with the Eheim canister filters. Has worked fantastic over the years. When I received my first Eheim filter, I had to YouTube how to prime them, once I found 1 video, it has been super easy every since. Simply take the output off of the aquarium, unplug power, have a bucket ready just in case, suck the end to begin the siphon, once you hear the water rushing into the canister filter, plug the power back in, and now your good to go! Hope that helps! Soothing Shrimp 1 Quote
Jadenlea Posted October 13, 2015 Author Report Posted October 13, 2015 I found a really simple way to prime the filter. Had my dad do it!! Perhaps I should make a utube video of my advanced clever technique. Seriously though.. I had asked him to cut the intake tube since I dont have any tools and when I got home, he had set it all up and gotten it started (I didnt really ask him) He was a mechanic all his life so he cant stand to have his hands on any kind of gadget and not put it together. Lucky me. Also ,not that he has it started, the double taps it came with allow me to turn it off and on without having to reprime it. GreenPepper 1 Quote
JamesHe Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Next time, get a Ecco version. It's very easy to prime. It's on sale at my local Petsmart and today is the last day. GreenPepper 1 Quote
