Shrimple minded
I've been wondering for a while now........when do you all replace or know to replace your cholla pieces? Is it fine to wait until they fully disintegrate, or will this ever occur?
chibikaie
Snails have devoured mine completely time span was somewhere between 6 to 8 months. Shrimple minded
Aennedry
I have a rather large hollowed out piece, a lovely log in my 5g, Six inches long and diameter around four inches. It is, oh, a year and eight months old. It does not look as substantial as when I first put it in, should be good for another six to eight months easy. When it starts falling apart or fades away a new one will go in. =^._.^= Shrimple minded
OblongShrimp
It really depends on the thickness of the wood but 6-18 months is probably reasonable.
Lyana
I never thought of this before I tied moss to mine lol
Wygglz
But it looks so pretty with moss on it Lyana. I'm sure we'll be able to give the moss a new home once the cholla is eaten.
DETAquarium
There is not set deadline. As Will said it depends on size and thickness as well. I would assume his Teddy Bear Cholla Wood will last many years to the more traditional cholla. Cholla wood in my experience lasts as long as my tanks, before I reset them or change the aquascape.
