I use a sponge on the intake to prevent shrimp from getting sucked in, but also use a hydro-sponge filter in addition to my canister filter which is a ehiem 2211. New tanks will have an HMF and Im thinking about putting the canister intake behind the HMF and using my NAG adjustable outlet to dissipate flow. You can never have enough filtration.
