Sandovalsbco
Hello shrimp spot, A little help please i'm going to switch my ten gallon over to RO water. My tank is cycled already and I did some reading on here and i know that i have to remineralize my water which i plan to do with some salty shrimp. I am however a little curious as to what to add for my plants. I have a couple of java ferns in the tank and going to be adding some java moss. I know that RO water isn't the best for planted tanks because it lacks nutrients and i heard may make your plants unable to thrive. I currently use leaf zone once a week but that is it. If some people can shed some light on keeping plants in a tank with RO water that would be greatly appreciated.

Soothing Shrimp
Isn't there a fert designed to be shrimp safe? I seem to remember it, but don't remember the name.

I honestly think it's just a marketing tactic using "shrimp safe fert". svetilda

sarah
I've been using 1/2 strength flourish in my fish tank. While it hasn't killed my amanos, they definitely react when it is added. Freaks me out every time. I also use the Seachem Potassium and Iron. I would not take a chance with any of these in my shrimp-only tanks, so I use low-maintenance plants that do not need ferts. Flourish and all other micro/trace elements when added to tank, will spike pH at bit usually around 0.2 and will stabilize in a matter of seconds/minutes depending on how fast your filter is. I recommend dosing Flourish directly into outflow using a syringe dropping one drop at a time slowly. I dose a full 1mL in 7G of water twice a week with no deaths for months. sarah
