TomCruise
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get my tanks (established a year or more ago with amazonia) My pH is hovering at 6 (with additives) I'm wanting to add mew Amazonia to the tanks in an attempt to get the tanks pH levels to the 5.5-5.7 range. I have many plants and use RO water and a remineralizer. Does Amazonia leach ammonia? If so, does Amazonia II leach less, and will it buffer lower than Amazonia I? Will Amazonia be all I need to buffer to 5.5-5.7? If not how can I get the rest of the way down? Can I use something Mosura pH down until I get a bunch of Amazonia cycled in an empty tank with a sacrificial fish in it, Then slowly switch out the substrate in my 3 other tanks with it? I, of course am hoping to get this done without too much destruction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
plamski
Both Amazonia will leach ammonia for about 3 months. Africana will be faster to cycle and will put PH much further down.I'm not sure that the shrimps will benefit from those 0.3 PH difference you are targeting. stable parameters and good bacteria amount in the tanks are much more important. What is your idea?
