ohmiko
Do all tiger shrimps grow really slow? My OEBT have not really grown much at ALL. I was wondering for like TT or Red Tiger, Aura, Regular, etc. I want some TT, but if its slow growth, I prob wont get some because I'm impatient :(( Euryth
Euryth
I'm having the EXACT same scenario play out lol. I feel like my trio probably molted maybe all of once or twice since having them. They are still maybe under or at 1 cm in length. I guess I won't have to worry about them breeding with my mischlings for the next 3 months lol. ohmiko

I'm so jealous to all the people who have berried tigers... and here I am... with a bunch of tiger juvis who wont grow up >:( I blame the shrimp version of peter pan Euryth
Euryth
Lol! Well that's why I've been researching old threads to see if I could find out anything about ways to increase growth rates. I feed good quality foods, have an established algae covered tank, use 6 or 7 hour light cycles, & keep params in between Caridina & Neo preferences. So far, not even my RCS or carbons are breeding in the same 5g & I've had them for two nearly three months. If I could improve something, it would have to be more water changes. I don't do them as much as I would like to. Scared I'd shock them too much ? ohmiko
Aennedry
Guess I was lucky with my OEBTs. My TTs took several months to breed, and it seemed to take longer for the little ones to reach breeding age compared my cherries. Took a half year before my Taiwan Fire Reds did anything. My OEBT bred within weeks of arrival, now the babies are around a month old and are just getting to a quarter-inch long. Second batch from my berried females should be hatching this upcoming week, and if it like last time, by the end of the next week they will be berried up again. Now how long it is going to take my babies to breed... I am going to be keeping track. Just checked (don't do this as much as I should...) TDS is 194, Ph 7.5, KH 5, GH 12, nitrates 40, and ammonia and nitrites 0. Looks like a water change weekend. Temp is 68, kept in a 5 gal tank. =^._.^= Euryth
ohmiko
whooaoaoaoa so lucky!!! and yes water change! 40 Nitrates is a little high I have 0 luck with a 5g tank >:(
Dukendabears
Main thing that affects growth rate is higher tank temperatures... but with oebt you want to stay low temp.
