Psyklon
Hi to all, here to ask to you all guys. I gonna use a Stc-1000 temperature controller on my new shrimp rack but my question is: Where to place the temperature probe? All the time was thinking to put it on the sump next to the water outlet. Will be here the best placement? What you think? Here a little sketch of the rack. See ya!
chappy6107
I would put mine in the sump or in the middle row of tanks. Psyklon
Zima
Can u explain how your water flow through rack? How many degrees the difference in sump and low rack tanks (if it's going from sump to rack top tanks)? Psyklon
Psyklon
An adjustable pump raises the water on the right side, each aquarium has its own ball valve and drain that end on the right side of the sump. The thermal difference is usually no greater than 2 ° C. Thanks budies.
booty on the dance floor
Looks like the best location would be the sump. It would be good to have one on the last tank at the top as well. That's probably where the greatest difference in temp would be. Psyklon

I was thinking the sump, but like you say will be good two probes, one for sump and another to the penthouse. Greetings
Zima
Hi! I have STC 1000, but if you already have it - you need some spare probes, like this https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/5-pcs-1M-NTC-Thermistor-Accuracy-Temperature-Sensor-10K-1-3950-Waterproof-Probe/32284280075.html Also you can check, the ready to use solution for cooling/heating https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/RINGDER-TC-320-230V10A-16-40C-Digital-Aquarium-Thermostat-Cool-Heat-Auto-Switching-ON-OFF-Regulator/32585899506.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.Qg43yk If you need equal temperature for all rack (+-1-2 C), you can use only 1 device & probe in sump and place a heater/cooler there (and tank(s) - if you want). If you need different temperature in some tanks, you need to have 1 device & probe for sump + heater&cooler and set the temperature to min base + 1 device & probe + heater&cooler for each tank with different temperature. But you need to understand, it's will be very tricky and depend on flow rate from/to sump. Psyklon

Always have the same temperature in all the tanks can be posible, but if i have a minimun of temperature diference its just fine. Now the superior tanks and the sump have almost the same temp, but in night, the penthouse hits 25° 26° and the sump stays on 23°.
