Hi folks, I just went and bought an amano shrimp at Petco last night. I'm looking at him / her and although the shape looks right, it doesn't have any telltale markings of an amano shrimp (either black dashes along the sides or dots along the sides - even Petco's site has the right pics). This shrimp looks blank on either side. I'd say maybe he's a baby but he's pretty big. About 1/3rd bigger than my adult red cherry shrimp. If you folks could help me determine whether or not he's a real amano shrimp I'd appreciate it. Pictures are on the link below. If he's not an amano, I'd be open to guesses. Nice! Thanks so much Shrimp Life for your response! I'm going to ship regular priority mail. Double bag the guys with the breather bags to reduce leakage. Make sure the Styrofoam is lined all the way around and put a little loose newspaper inside with the bag to stop any rolling around. There's some gaps in the styro (due to my bad measuring and cutting) so they shrimp should hopefully get some air if they need it. Haven't sold any yet but I'll keep you all posted if I'm able to sell these guys before it starts to get cold here. The #4 box is a wee bit tight if I put in a heat pack. Not sure if it would fit at all.

Got some more questions for you folks. I went into the post office today and told the clerk I was going to be mailing some live shrimp. She told me that it would be best to have the box shipped with special handling so that the shrimp are hand sorted. She said it would be rough on them if they are machine sorted. She said it's a "little bit more" to ship them that way. I found out it's $10.95 for special handling / fragile. https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/t/new-usps-charge-for-fragile-items/134182/3 The problem is that if I ship them that way I'm going to make so little on the shipment, I'd be better off just donating them to Petco. Do you ship your shrimp with special handling? I could double bag the shrimp and fill it so that they probably wouldn't take damage if they were bounced around a bit in the sorting facility. Hi Folks, I'm shipping some red cherry shrimp and had a few questions. When I ship them, should I be using my tank water so they aren't shocked if I put them in 100% new dechlorinated tap water? Should I mix it 50-50 (tank & fresh?). (Been reading both sides of the coin on these questions on Google). Shipping in a breather bag. Should I Double bag? Fill water all the way to the top or have an inch of air on the top? Knot the bag only or double down with a rubber band? Shipping priority mail. What box size would you go with if I'm shipping 12 of them? Thinking #4 box (7x7x6). My concern it might not be big enough for both the shrimp and styrofoam. Thanks!

Got these things in my tank. Fast movers. They move super fast in spurts. Tiny. About the ¼ of the size of a BB. Slugs. Two types. Black slugs and white slugs. Here’s videos. Dosed then waited 7 days and dosed again. Thought they were all dead. Didn’t see any the following week but now they are back. I have one mystery snail, one black racer snail and one striped nerite snail. One emerald corycat. Three amano shrimp and 12 red cherry shrimp. Water temp is about 70f. PH – 7.2 – 7.5. Ammonia – 0. Nitrites – 0. Nitrates – 0-5. GH – 6. KH – 2-3. Phosphates. 0.5 – 1.0 ppm. Feed them 1x a night. One shrimp pellet (wardley). Two hikari crab cuisine pellets. One quarter of omega one veggie rounds. A few wardley fish flakes. ¼ of Tums generic calcium tablet. Have couple of eggshells. Oak leaves. Cinnamon sticks. Cassia and Ceylon. Plants – amazon sword (2). Wisteria and Java moss. Was losing 2-3 shrimps a week from a group of about 50-70 (started with 2). Temp was in high 70’s – low 80’s. Had algae problem even with scrubber (either algae or cyanobacteria. It was non-hair type). Lowered temp to 70f. Added leaves, egg shells cinnamon sticks. Generic tums. Changed out about 8 gallons from my 20 gallon tank 1x per 7 days. No further shrimp deaths. After water change I add seachem safe, equilibrium, flourish and excel. Also scrape some mineral stone in there. Have had this 20 gallon running for three years. Have had this funky worm / fast mover thing for at least 3 months now. Probably longer. Question – what the heck are these things? Detritus worms? The fast movers can’t be detritus worms – they’re too small and fast. They aren’t hydra. No spikey things. Flatworms? Emerald corycat is okay. I find these things on the side of tank glass in the morning when I turn the light on. The worms / slugs don’t seem to like light. I won’t see them that much during the day. I see them but not many. When I turn the light on they usually go down into the substrate. The fast movers don’t care whether there is light on or not. They’re easily as fast as the shrimp when the shrimp do their leap thing to get away from danger. What else can I do to get rid of these things? More prazipro? I heard if I use febendazole it will kill my shrimp and snails. Thanks for whatever info you can provide.
