Vpier
Take a look at this http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/5264-new-10gal-crs-tank/ I prefer HMF. Simple and works as well or better than mechanical filters. Looks good in a tank. Needs to be cleaned once every 1.5-2 years. 2 inch and 30-45PPI works the best. Most use 45PPI . http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/4154-setting-up-a-tank-with-an-hmf-filter/ http://www.swisstropicals.com/filtration-shop/cornerfilter-shop/ Remember CRS prefer cooler (low 70's) temps so if you live in an area that doesnt get cold you can get away from having a heater.. I live in MN and actually have to cool down my tanks even in the winter due to heat from light and equipment that raise the water temps. Do some research on active substrats that will buffer your water. I like controsoil but its almost impossible to get now. Others like Marfield and ADA soils. But there are many others that work well. RODI water is important and must have for CRS. You can get it at the grocery store or buy cheap units that work really well. The first one is what I have and works great. 0PPM http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Reverse-Osmosis-Filtration-POQ-4B-50/dp/B00GJCE2X4/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1451023443&sr=8-10&keywords=rodi http://www.amazon.com/Aquatic-Life-Reverse-Osmosis-50-Gallon/dp/B00DOG63OY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451023520&sr=8-1&keywords=rodi For lighting, this is cheap and works real well for low light plants and a few members also have recommended this light. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017R5FU1Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 You must remineralize RODI water by using products like http://www.hanaquatics.com/mk-breed-blue-diamond/ http://www.theshrimptank.com/water-conditioners/salty-shrimp-bee-shrimp-gh/ Hman
