XDeathShotX Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Hey guys, I just bought a second hand chiller a few days ago. The previous owner used it for his salt water tank. I cleaned everything up and connected it to my canister filter and it started spewing out some white particles in my water.I then shut off my canister filter and cleaned my chiller again. Now the water is back to being clear but then my pH has increased from 6.3 to 7.Is there any way for me to reduce my pH level? I have tried to add more ADA soil as buffer and also put in more driftwood. Quote
adrand Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 If it was me i would be doing an immediate large % water change. Sounds like some leftover salt residue got kicked out of the chiller. I believe the salt mixes buffer PH high, at least that was my experience. Quote
DETAquarium Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Do you have fauna in the tank? I would suggest a series of small water changes if you have fauna in the tank, otherwise one large one would do. Quote
XDeathShotX Posted March 22, 2016 Author Report Posted March 22, 2016 I have shrimps and some java moss in my tank. I did a series of small water change after reading your comments and now the pH is 6.8. Hopefully the fluctuation in pH doesnt stress my shrimps too much. Thanks for the reply guys!!
