MABJ
I'm just wondering if this is even a remote possibility? Take a look in the holes of the rock. There's green moss... Now it could just be completely dried up and have died green, but I thought moss went brown when it dies. This rock as some of you may recognize was in my old DBP tank which I tore down well over 18 months ago. Is it possible the moss adapted to being in an air environment so well? MABJ
That's nuts! Moss is so resilient lol. Unfortunately I don't really want that strand of moss lol. I'll stick it in a Petri dish.

wicca32
its possible its dead moss. i have some dead moss on drift wood i have not used in 2 years or more and its green. it does not always turn brown when dead. i found that as long as it was green in the tank it tends to stay green out of the water when dry too. MABJ
How do you know that green moss is dead though? Just wondering.
wicca32
when i put it in the tank it looked dead and floated up to the top. it was really dry and looked kinda like paper in the tank. stick the rock in some water and see what happens in a few days. if it still looks dry after being in the water i would say its dead. if it looks like its starting to plump up might still be alive.
