Venom
So yesterday I was changing the cartridge in my shrimp tank filter and found what appeared to be a very small earthworm hanging out of it. It was wiggling all over and looked like it had gotten stuck in there. I was really freaked out and instantly threw it in the trash, should have taken a picture. There was also a small snail shell attached to it that appeared to be empty. Does anyone have any idea what this thing could be and how to prevent them? I considered the possibility that the snail had come out of its shell for some reason, but it really looked like a small earthworm, with the little ridges on the side and everything. I’ve had this tank running for almost a year and have never seen any worms in it before. Though I recently had placed some frogbit and guppy grass in it that shortly after completely melted. I’m not sure if maybe they hitched a ride on those. Any ideas? Edited July 19, 2019 by Venom Misspelled word
OblongShrimp
Worms arent uncommon to find in shrimp tanks were there are no fish to eat them. They shouldnt cause any problems though. I usually see them hanging out in the substrate but they come up when I feed sometimes.

OblongShrimp
You are welcome! Grab a photo if another one shows up but it is likely a detritus worm or something
