If the female has more access to higher protein sources, then they are able to develop the eggs faster. Not sure about time though. Griznatch Posted September 24, 2020 Report Share Posted September 24, 2020 This a bit late, hopefully you have some babies by now.... The saddle doesn't take long to form. It's the time from when the eggs get fertilized and are moved into the tail, that really determines when you are going to have babies. That usually take 3 to 4 weeks. Seems to happen faster with warmer temps.Females won't berry until they molt and release pheromones into the water.
