slycat929
For those who keep BTOE, do you leave the ones that look like royal blues in the breeding population? I have an adult female BTOE that appears quite blue and I am not sure if I should just leave her there. Will she dilute the color of the ones that are actually black? I do have a separate colony of royal blues, but I don't think that would be a good place for her either. Just looking to find out what others are doing. Thanks! Sbarbee54
If they came from me my btoe had Royal Blues mixed in so mine through a bunch. I kept them in as it really does not hurt them. Who did you get your btoe from
slycat929
They are from 2 sources: Alpha Pro Breeders (mostly black) and Ark on Aquabid (a little more blue), but both have blue in their genes
Sbarbee54
Ark got his from me. That is probably why. It is fine to have it I had 1200 btoe at the peak and never had issues with the Royal gene
Sbarbee54
Not all btoe have blue in there genes
slycat929
Oh, I know. I had asked before I bought them and both sellers had confirmed that they had blue genes in their lines. I guess I will leave them in then. Thanks!
