EbiBunBun
I have some of this lime stone gravel and a few small marble chunks lying around from various gardening projects and was wondering if they are safe to use as part of an aquascape. Just as accents to the rest of the substrate, which will be mainly just black diamond blasting sand and maybe some lava and river rocks for plant anchors. This will be using tap water (8.2 pH, GH 10) in a tank for only Neos.
metageologist
As you all ready have a high pH and hard water the added lime stone will make little to minimal difference. Your pH will probably go up to 8.4 and you gh kh will go up a few degrees.
EbiBunBun
Will that be OK for the Neos? I do really slow acclimation for everything before I put them in just to be safe.
metageologist
Your shrimp will be living on the edge of tolerance, which may lead to molting and breeding issues. Have you considered a dirted tank the soil would probably help to bring the pH down with all the tannins.
