Izzy_here
I see alder cones sold in bulk on eBay for crafts etc, some auctions even say "for aquariums" can I assume these are safe to use? Should they be boiled or washed etc?
WaterBugg
You always want to boil just in case better safe than sorry
Greenteam
The ones on ebay are old and not the best for aquariums. I purchase some bulk and you could tell they were dry like 2+ years old so they released almost no beneficial tannins into the water. I purchased some fresh picked ones from another breeder and shrimp swarm them when I add to tank and I could tell a big quality difference right away. h4n and Izzy_here
Dukendabears
The shrimp nature alder cone bag has about 200 cones in it for only $7.
Crazyfishlady
So, unless you get them from someone who flat out says they are fresh, how do you know how fresh they are?
9thdragon
200 for 7.99 is a great deal =)
