Doc4PC2
I was wondering if anyone know how long you are supposed to keep miniature alder cones in your shrimp tank? After about 3 weeks, they start growing these tiny stems that have usually two green leaves on them. They are very, very small. Do you exchange the alder cones for new ones after awhile? Is it okay to leave them in there? Thanks, Doc
h4n
Doc, I leave them until theres only the Skelton left. As in the middle stems and some small side ones. I never seen mine grow anything off them though?
Subtletanks91
Your lucky. I would take it out and plant in. In a year or two you'll have a small tree might give you alder cones!
TheShrimporium
I typically leave mine in until I get tired of looking at them, lol. Usually about 1-2 months. Then I'll wait a while before adding new ones. BTW, there is a person on ebay selling them for like $6 for 300. Atleast they were a few months ago. Mine also try to sprout while submerged. I think I will try transplanting them now that the weather has warmed up.
Doc4PC2
That's a good idea, I should try to plant in, maybe in a small planter, and see what happens, maybe I could grow my own alder tree. I do live in the mountains..... lol
