DETAquarium
Hey ShrimpSpot! Most of the Caridina shrimp we see are black or red, Crystal Red/Black, Black King Kong, Extreme BKK, Red Wine, Ruby Red, etc. but is it possible to have both traits on one shrimp? Is this a project that has been attempted or are the genes of shrimp making this feat impossible? The closest Caridina shrimp I have seen would be a Dragon/Marbled Wine Red Shrimp, but still the black is not distinct. I imagine a Zebra Red Pinto with black stripes, or a Wine Red with black stripes, or best a Panda with Red bands instead of white. What do you all think? Are these genes either one or the other , or is it possible to have both? Thanks! DETAquarium
Faralon
I'm sure Soothing will chime in here on the genetics part, but man, could you imagine a Black Fishbone Pinto with the "bones" markings being red, like a BlackWidow Spider.....Awesome.... Lyana
That's a good question, that would be so awesome. I want a red ruby with black instead of white

Greenteam
I haven't tried it but what do you get when you mix Red Pinto x Black Pinto? Is anyone doing that right now?
RyeGuy411
I haven't tried it but what do you get when you mix Red Pinto x Black Pinto? Is anyone doing that right now? I was told some Taiwanese breeders are doing this. It is the Same as mixing CRS and CBS or Panda/RedWine. You will get a small percentage of red since it seems to be recessive and mostly black. I was also told Red Pinto/Black Pinto will make red dragon pintos, which some people find less desirable.
Greenteam
I'm not a fan of dragon so might skip this.
