mmaacchh10
I needed to swap out my Brightwell aquasoil for my Caridina tank because the buffering capacity was depleting. After I did that the pH went down to 6.0. But, subsequently I had an ammonia spike so I added Purigen, Zeolite, and Activated Carbon. I used the Marineland Diamond Blend Premium Activated Carbon and Ammonia-Neutralizing crystals. The next day my pH had increased to 6.8-7.0. I confirmed with a couple different tests that my pH had in fact increased. Any idea which product is causing the pH increase ?
Aquarium Creation
Check the kh of your water. You want 0-1 kh to get the pH to go lower with your substrate. I haven't seen pH increases when using Purigen or Carbon. Not sure about Zeolite though.
mmaacchh10
Thanks for responding back Aquarium Creation. I just tested the KH and it is zero just like the water I am using for water changes. So that is not it. Any other idea on which product is causing the pH to go back up ?
