ibebian
For those with shrimp-only tanks, you're likely to have low nitrates of 0-5ppm. My questions are: what use is to do WC if tank is well aerated and topped off? I have a lid on my tank as well to limit evap and any contaminants getting in. is there any fear of the tank un-cycling since there is such minimal bioload? My mosses and frogbit are growing well, so they must be getting nutrients from somewhere (no ferts). FWIW, it's a 3g nano with about 40 juvie/adult shrimp, and maybe 20+ babies. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts!
OMG Aquatics
Mainly to replenish trace elements and minerals. As long as there's a food source, your tank will not un-cycle.
OblongShrimp
I agree about the trace elements but every couple months is fine with a low bioload.
