  1. Thanks for all the responces guys. I started to see more shrimp, I can confirm two alive adults, I have a feeling the third died I have also seen a few shrimplets, lets hope this doesnt take any more damage. I ordered a fan and its on its way. With the methods explained above I have lowered to 80F in two days. Thanks for all the help!
  2. Ive been putting small ice packs in, as well as taking off the lid, which has dropped it to 80F.
  3. What type of fan do I get, and where? I can really only go to petsmart if I was to go today and get it right now. Other then that, if you can recommend one, I have a 10 gallon tank with a top. So, any suggestions will help. My tank has lowered a bit, and is at 82F.
  4. I have a air pump, just for 10 gallons though. I have it connected to a bubble wand in the back. The tank is very large, though the mollies may do that as they are somewhat curious They picked at the cories when I first put them in, Just trying to think of ideas though.
  5. I am in a panic, sorry guys. We currently cant see any shrimp, we did see a exoskeleton... Anything helps, I can give any details needed.
  6. Alright, I am in a panic right now... I look at my water temperature, 84- 86F... So, recently I havent seen any of my shrimplets and hardly any shrimp. I had to do a bigger water change and earlier weekly water change. Right now its at 82F, but I have bad news. As I was vacuuming my tank, I found a dead adult cherry shrimp. The issue that concerns me is that its almost all black... Ill include photos, but beware, they are kinda gross. I did a 25% water change, which didnt change it. Anyways, I put in a bag with ice cubs to try and lower it, they melted in less then 10 minutes. The galaxy rasbora are doing fine, same with the otocinclus. Anyways, I feel the temperature killed off the shrimp... I am wondering how I can regulate the temperature, also by not using the air conditions because our house is always hot and we refuse to use the air conditioning... I dont know why. Would I be able to move everything into my 60 gallon tank, which is much cooler? It has 3 mollies, and 4 cories. 8. Is it really hard to clean the tank in a planted environment? I did some reseach considering them but then what killed me is this... The discus are pretty expensive, costing over 40+ dollars for a decent average. Ive read that they are pretty sensitive to water quality, I guess im alright at that, but its a different type of tank. I feel I can handle care for fish a little more difficult, as I have otocinclus and galaxy rasbora in my first tank along with some cherry shrimp. I have kept my water parameters the same until I would say two weeks ago, where we got a small ammonia spike to 0.25, which cleared up after a few days and some water changes. Would I really be able to keep that many bettas? That sounds like alot, can you send photos or videos of your tanks? Sounds unique and different. Exactly what I want! Thanks
  9. Oh, forgot to mention, sorry! I dont want any really complicated plants, so no CO2 and high lighting. I only have LEDs, which seem really strong and blind me when I look at them but, pretty sure not as strong as others.
  10. Would there be any way to ship the items to me, if not thats fine. It would be nice to get the combo deal though... I feel sadly that may not be possible as I am in California :/
  11. Hey, I just wanted to know if my shrimp, cherry shrimp can be placed in my 60 gallon aquarium. I only have 3 mollies and 4 cories, but I still dont know if I can put them in there. The reason im asking is because my shrimp have bred, and are pregnant again. So, I was wondering if I can transfer some of the shrimplets into that tank. I actually dont know how old they are, but they have recently been swimming around the tank alot, they love going into the bubble stream and flying to the top, then drifting down They also have some developing red, so if anyone can kinda make an estimate? Ill also include a video. But back on topic, I was wondering if I can keep these shrimp with my other fish, and get a large colony developed in there, then add some more fish so by that time they don't get wiped out. One last thing, my tank isnt crazy planted or anything, as this is my first actual scaping type thing with lots of plant. I want to know what I should place in the center of my tank, what would be a good plant make lots of coverage on the floor, kinda like a carpet? But not throughout the entire floor, and any other plants suggested/advised? Thanks for any help/responces! Link to shrimplets: Link to the tank: https://flic.kr/s/aHskCDvoWy
  12. Hey guys, I just need help and suggestions on stocking my tank, Ill also post a few photos along with another question... So, here are the things I know. I really like albino cories and kuhli loaches, so would I be able to incorporate them together into my tank somehow? Also, I want something rather different then the typical angel stocking, since I see its pretty common to have angels as the main piece, a small school of fish, another nice pop out fish such as a gourami or rams, then the bottom feeders. Id rather not have that, and actually have a nice tropical community. So far, I want the cories and loaches... The other fish id like are cardinal tetras, or neon tetras... I heard that cardinals are more hardy, if so then those... But I would like those as the main centerpiece in the tank, I think it would be really cool to see them all in there. At the same time though, I dont just want the tetras.. So, if anyone could suggest any other fish I can keep or a different/recommended stocking for my tank that would be nice. Again, my tank is 60 gallons. One last question... Im going to post my tank and I just need some opinions and suggestions. Does it look alright? I guess you can call it "scaping", but I am fairly new so I am not the greatest. I also wanted to know what would look good in the empty area in the middle. Thanks everyone
  13. I am somewhat new to shrimp keeping, and I have only been here a few months. I am not saying I am correct in any of these, this is just what I would say from the info I have read and learned these past few months. 1. How many shrimp do you think I could keep in this little tank? I would say less then 20 maybe 10 or less, as being at 20 would be the max you could have and would be really pushing it. Being such a small container, the water parameters can change and fluctuate if not experienced, leading to dying shrimp. I am going off the estimated 10 shrimp a gallon, which I have heard is a decent number. 2. Would I have to put a sponge over the filter intake? I would say so, as the shrimp can be sucked in. Especially if you are considering breeding, shrimplets are TINY, so they will need a sponge over the filter intake. My tank has a sponge over the filter intake, and the adult shrimp as well as baby shrimp are fine and sit on it. 3. Do you think that non-local stores like Petsmart or Petco would buy the shrimp? From what I have heard, big box stores like petsmart and petco wont take fish as they already have their own suppliers and wont trust other outside fish. From my own experience, I was not allowed to return a kuhli loach to petsmart because they wouldnt take it without the recipt, so theres that. And for other stores, such as local owned stores, I would say that they will either take your fish/shrimp very cheap, or for store credit. You can keep cherry shrimp in a small tank for sure, it will just be a bit harder then lets say a 5 gallon or 10 gallon tank. You can also breed the shrimp, but just remember the selling will get you just pocket change, and will not be much to do much. It may help pay for your hobby, but thats all. Anyways, thats what I have to say. Of course, just wait for now and wait what everyone has to say and then make your choice based on what other people say. EDIT: I just saw you had a thread previously on how many shrimp you can keep in a tank, just take those into consideration as well.
  14. Alright, as I am also new to the hobby as well, I will say what I have heard from, and the info I have been using to keep my shrimp. As for your answer to how many he can keep in a 1.8 gallon tank, I am pretty sure that the 10 shrimp a gallon would be kinda accurate. That being said, I am pretty sure that 100 shrimp in such a small tank would not be possible. Anyways, thats my take in that.
