kcoscia
Hey everyone. Things have been going fairly well in my new shrimp experience, except I keep having a death every week or so. I don't know why. I'll post a set of parameters when I get home. OblongShrimp
How long has the tank been set up and how long have you had the shrimp?
kcoscia
The tank has been set up for months (6+). Plenty of biofilm, cycled, etc. Shrimp I haven't have for that long. 3 weeks approx. They also hide a lot. I only see them occasionally. I think I have about 5-7 total and one amano that I don't see often, but he's there somewhere. They have a lot of hiding places. Params: Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10 pH 6.8 gH 7 kH 0 My thoughts, pH swing due to low kH?
Puddles
Ph swings.... Do you have a buffering substrate? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kcoscia
Eco complete and sand, so no :/ I'm gunna try some baking soda today to get the kH to 1-2 and see if I notice changes. Sent from my VS840 4G using Tapatalk
kcoscia
added 1/4 tsp of baking soda (sodium bicarb. 100%) to raise kH to 2-3 pH to 7.4 (1.5 hours later: increased shrimp activity!)
Puddles
The cherries will like the kh and it will buffer the ph as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kcoscia
I hope this solves the problem! My fish (other tank had same kH prior and same dosing results) are acting better too
